George Joy

George Joy, 65, of George Road, Maynard, MA, died suddenly, Friday, February 22, 2013 at his home. He was born in Batavia, NY on June 14, 1947 son of the late Joseph T. and Josephine (Gallo) Joy. He was the husband of Linda A. (Balonek) Joy and they had been Maynard residents since 1978. Mr. Joy had been a manager at Digital Equipment Corp. formerly in Maynard and later for local gasoline stations before retiring. He was an avid bowler and collector car enthusiast and was a member of the Maynard Area Auto Club. He drove his El Camino carrying the Red Sox Green Monster "Wally" in December's Christmas Parade in Maynard. In recent years he enjoyed fishing, kayaking and dominoes with his neighbor.

In addition to his wife he leaves his son Jeffrey Joy of Columbia, MD, his daughter Beth A. Garbitt of Dennis; his beloved grandchildren: Madeline J. Joy, Emily Joy Garbitt, Olivia J. Joy and Matthew David Garbitt and two brothers Russell Joy of NY and Michael Joy of CA. He was predeceased by a daughter Kristi Lyn Joy.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date to be announced.
