JEANNE E. PONTILLO

Age 86, of Batavia, died peacefully Sunday morning February 24, 2013 at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Facility. She was born March 14, 1926 in Washington, DC, a daughter, of the late Linwood D. & Agnes S. (McKnight) Eichelbeger, also preceded in death by her husband, James V. Pontillo Sr.; son, James V. Pontillo Jr.; sister, Mary V. Cook and granddaughter, Jeanne V. Pontillo

She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Church and also attended the Faith Community Chapel. A switchboard operator in Washington before moving to Batavia where she was head teller for the former Marine Midland Bank. Jeanne was always active in Notre Dame High School while her children attended. She will be remembered as a loving, caring mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking and baking.

Surviving are her loving daughters, Carol J. Carney of North Carolina and Linda (Joseph) Pratt of Ohio; brothers, Alfred (Anita) Eichelberger and James Eichelberger both of Maryland; 10 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild along with many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may visit from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Friday March 1, 2013 at the Michael S. Tomaszewski Funeral & Cremation Chapel, LLC 4120 West Main Street Road Batavia, New York 14020 where funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday March 2. Memorials in Jeanne’s memory are suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
