Owen C. Smith

Owen C. Smith 93 of Batavia died Thursday June 27, 2013, in United Memorial Medical Center, Batavia. He was born September 30, 1919 in Florida to the late James and Laura (Suggs) Smith.   Mr. Smith was a retired Carpenter with Local #280 out of Lockport where he worked for over 50 years. He was an Army Veteran of WWII, a member of the Batavia American Legion and a member of The United Pentecostal Church in Batavia.  Mr. Smith was an avid CB radio enthusiast and bingo player. He loved spending his time with his family and friends and having coffee at Dunkin Donuts. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Florence A. (Del Re) Smith who died in 2003,  1 brother and 3 sisters  Arthur Smith, Willa Mae North, Mary Williams and Lorraine Williams.

He is survived by his 3 loving children JoAnn (William) Mac Cowan of Batavia, Owen D. (Marilyn) Smith of Elba and Robert B. (Renee) Smith of Batavia.  He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

Friends are invited to call on Friday June 28, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main Street Batavia, New York 14020.  An 8:00 PM Funeral Service will be held on Friday June 28, 2013 at the Funeral Home, following calling hours.  Burial will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, in Batavia.  May be made to a Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
