Dominic J. “Dolly” Marone

Batavia - Dominic J. “Dolly” Marone, 83, of Batavia, passed away Friday, (June 28, 2013) at the New York State Veteran's Home, in Batavia, following a brief illness.

Mr. Marone was born March 18, 1930 in Batavia, a son of the late Emiel Sr. and Rose (VanDetta) Marone.

He served his country honorably with the Army during the Korean War.  He was a long time member of the former St. Anthony’s Church in Batavia and will be remembered as a kind, honest, compassionate man.

Dom is survived by his siblings, Paul (Esther) Marone of Batavia; John (Jane) Marone of Lancaster, and Geraldine (late George) Rowcliffe of Brooksville, FL.  Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Mr. Marone is preceded in death by his brother, Emil Marone, Jr; and sisters, Concetta (late Lawrence and James) Merritt-White, Marie (late Donald and Gaines) Rollins-Starling, and Angeline Marone.

There will be no prior visitation.  A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday (July 1, 2013) at St. Mary’s Church, 18 Ellicott Street, Batavia.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation in Dominic’s name to the NYS Veteran's Home - Activities Fund, 220 Richmond Avenue, Batavia, NY 14020.  Burial, with military honors, will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Batavia.  Arrangements were entrusted to the H.E.
