Loretta A. Sobon

Loretta A. Sobon, 93 of Batavia died Friday (September 13, 2013) at the New York State Veterans Home.

She was born in Machias, NY on December 27, 1919, a daughter of the late Conrad and Emma Rossmann Allenbrandt.

She was the widow of the late Stephen Sobon who died on December 24, 1978.

For many years she was a clerk cashier at the Market Basket Grocery Store in LeRoy.  She volunteered at the V.A. Hospital for over 28 years and enjoyed soft music, knitting crocheting.  With her talent as a fine seamstress she also made her own clothing.  She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Batavia for many years.

Surviving is her brother, Albert (Elizabeth) Allenbrandt of Piffard, NY her sister, Anna Dye of Franklinville, NY Anna Mae Allenbrandt of Caledonia, NY.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:30 to 11am at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 31 Washington Ave., Batavia, NY 14020 where services will follow.  Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Machias.

Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the church.
