David J. Davis

David J. Davis, 71, of Perry died Monday January 27, 2014 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw. He was born in Warsaw on May 25, 1942, son of the late Paul and Catherine Dorrenbacher Davis. David served with the U.S. Air Force. He was a graduate of Perry High School. Dave worked for the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department for 37 years as an investigator retiring in 2003. He also worked for Swain Ski and Sports for 20 years as a ski instructor and ski school director, and he currently was working at Bristol Ski Resort as a snowboard instructor. He was a Perry Village trustee for eight years, and was on the Wyoming County Republican Committee for many years.

He was a member of the St. Isidore’s Catholic Parish where he attended St. Mary’s Church in Silver Springs, he enjoyed skiing, snowboarding, riding bike, taking walks, or just enjoyed the frequent visits from friends and family. He would be seen around town taking care of others’ lawns and driveways.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie LaFountaine Davis whom he married in 1966; two daughters, Vicki (Tom) Mucher of Ranson, W.Va., Nannette (Aaron) Galvin of Mount Morris; two brothers, Paul (Donna) Davis of Rochester, Patrick (Jan) Davis of Knox, Ind.; a sister, Kathleen “Kitty” (Steve) Schmidt of Leslie, Mo.; three grandchildren, Madison and Reagan Mucher and Adam Galvin; a close friend, Mark (Catrina) Kingsley of Perry; along with many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC, 98 North Main St., Perry, NY 14530. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Isidore’s Catholic Parish (St. Joseph’s Church) in Perry. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Silver Springs.
