Michael was a 1988 Batavia High School graduate. He was extremely proud of being elected Town Supervisor of Attica. He currently worked as a village employee, and previously for the Department of Works in Batavia. Michael just started riding motorcycles with the Patriot Guard Riders. He loved his nieces and nephews and enjoyed his friends, coffee shops, farming and camping. He was known for being easy going, helping others and always smiling. People that knew him would say that he was a jokester and there wasn’t a mean bone in his body.
Michael is survived by his wife Janet (Ahl) Smart of Attica, son Riley Malone of Batavia, mother-in-law Barbara Ahl of Attica, brother Douglas (Bernadette) Smart of Batavia, sisters Sue (Frank) Henry of TX; Janice (George Arnold) Smart of Batavia, sisters-in-law Deborah (Harold) Cratsley of Attica; Sandra (Gordon Biehl) Prusak of Attica, nieces and nephews Jennifer Sweet; Erica, Kayla, and Jessie Henry; Steven Cotter II; Jeremy Arnold; Douglas Smart Jr.; Brandon and Tyler Smart; James Prusak Jr.; Amanda Cratsley along with several great nieces and nephews.
Family and Friends may call from 7:00 PM - 9:00PM on Tuesday July 1, 2014 and 10:00AM - 11:00AM on Wednesday July 2, 2014 at Trinity United Methodist Church located at 75 Main Street, Attica, New York 14011. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday July 2, 2014 at the Trinity United Methodist Church. Michael will be laid to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery, Attica.
