Dr. Gerace was a 1952 graduate of Batavia High School and earned both his B.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame. He held positions at Solvay Chemical in Syracuse, Xerox in Rochester, and Amoco in Chicago, earning 5 patents over the course of his career. He was a loved husband, father, and grandfather, who gave enthusiastically of his time volunteering for church, school, and numerous service organizations over his life.
Surviving is his beloved wife with whom he would have shared their 49th wedding anniversary on July 24, 2014, Jeanette (Mancuso) Gerace of Batavia; daughter, Maria (John) Hoffman of Tampa, FL and their children, Justin, James & Jacqueline Hoffman; son, Christopher (Jennifer) Gerace of Victor, NY and their children, Stephen & Anna Gerace; sister, Eileen Gerace of Canandaigua, NY; brother, Thomas (Jane) Gerace of Farmington, NY along with several niecesand nephews.
Family and friends may visit from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday July 8, 2014 at the MICHAEL S. TOMASZEWKSI FUNERAL & CREMATION CHAPEL, LLC 4120 WEST MAIN STREET ROAD BATAVIA, NEW YORK 14020 where prayers will be recited 9:30 a.m. Wednesday July 9, 2014 followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Resurrection Parish (St. Joseph's Site) 303 East Main Street in Batavia, concelebrated by Rev. Robert E. Waters and Monsignor Leo McCarthy. He will be laid to rest in St. Joseph's Cemetery and the family suggests memorials to the All Apostles Society of St. Joseph's Catholic School 2 Summit Street Batavia, New York 14020.
