Joseph J. Koziol Sr.

Joseph J. Koziol Sr., 72, of Batavia, died Monday (October 13, 2014) at United Memorial Medical Center after a lengthy illness. 
 
He was born in Batavia on September 14, 1942, a son of the late Joseph and Stella Gomula Koziol.  
 
He was retired from Eastman Kodak Co. in Rochester where he was an optical designer.  He was a lifelong member of Ascension Parish and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during the Cuban Missile Crisis working 14 to 16 hours a day to keep the EC-121 radar planes flying on the East coast. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions and the Buffalo Bills.  He was a devoted and loving husband and father who cherished and loved his family dearly. 
 
Surviving is his wife of 48 years, Suzanne (Mager) Koziol, two sons, Joseph J. Jr. (Kimberly) Koziol and Donald Koziol all of Batavia. Two grandsons, Peter Andrew and Philip Steven Koziol.  Three sisters, Theresa (Raymond) Seweryniak of E. Pembroke, Anne (James) Stevens of W. Seneca and Josephine (late Ogus) Sarac of Cheektowaga.  A brother, Edward Koziol of Indian Falls.  Several nieces and nephews also survive. 
 
Friends of the family are invited to share their thoughts, fond memories and condolences with the family on Thursday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 PM at the J. LEONARD MCANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC., 2 BOGUE AVE., BATAVIA, where prayers will be Friday at 9:15am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Ascension Parish (corner Swan and Sumner Sts.) at 10:00am.  Burial with full Military Honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Batavia.
