William L. Safford

William L. Safford, 81, of Perry died on Tuesday October 14, 2014 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born April 2, 1933 in Perry to the late Elden (Verda Clark) Safford. He is preceded in death by his grandson Andrew Safford and a sister Betty Evans.

Bill served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Perry Central School and worked for Lapp Insulator in LeRoy for over 40 years as a foreman in the turning department. He was a member of the Western New York Gas and Steam Association. Bill enjoyed going to the shows put on by the Gas and Steam Association, working on motors, going hunting with his hunting camp friends, shooting his black powered gun, and the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife Saralue “Sally” (Davis) Safford whom he married on January 16, 1953; sons William J. (Irene) Safford of Port Charlotte, Fl., Rodney (Barbara Ann) Safford of Mt. Morris, Scott (Nancy) Safford of Perry; sister Edna Schutte of Fairport; brother Roger (Donna) Safford of Lima; brother-in-law James Evans of Perry; 7 grandchildren Heather Ann (Michael) Seymore, William E. (Heather), Justin, Greg, Sara, Victoria and Samuel Safford, 8 great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday October 17 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 North Main Street Perry New York 14530. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday October 18 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery in Perry.
