Frances Cupler

Oakfield - Frances Cupler, 91, of Batavia, formerly of Oakfield, passed away Friday, (November 21, 2014) at United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia.

Mrs. Cupler was born May 13, 1923 in Weirton, WV, a daughter of the late Frank and Josephine (Barilla) Galline.

Mrs. Cupler was a member of the American Legion Post 626 Ladies Auxiliary, and greatly enjoyed doing puzzles, watching soap operas, and playing bingo at Washington Towers. 

She loved to crochet and was proud to have donated blankets to the VA and other area nursing homes. 

She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren deeply.

Frances is the wife of the late Clair Cupler, who passed away April 23, 2008.

She is survived by her children, Lorraine (Jerry) Allen-Agett of Hilton, Lois (John) Scopano of Oakfield, and C. Richard (Marianne) Cupler of Alabama; grandchildren, Terry (Michelle) Allen of Clarendon, Jeffrey (Kathy) Allen of Hilton, Rebecca (Shannon) Hilchey of Rochester, Angie (Peter) Firmalino of Tannersville, NY, and Sara Tea Cupler of Alabama; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Theresa (late Gino) Velletta of Batavia, Margaret (late Durwood) Balduf of Batavia, Josephine (Donald) Palone of Oakfield, and Julia (late Melvin) Drake of Appelton.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Frances is preceded in death by her siblings, Joseph (late Minnie) Galline, Mary (late Mario) Benedetti, and Jennie (late Raymond) Nesbitt.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Avenue, Oakfield, where Frances’ Funeral Services will immediately follow calling at 6:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oakfield Fire Department, P.O. Box 184, 20 Albert Street, Oakfield, NY 14125.  Burial will be in Cary Cemetery, Oakfield.
