GORDON R. AMIDON

GORDON R. AMIDON - age 95, of Batavia, NY died peacefully Wednesday morning February 18, 2015 at the New York State Veterans Home @ Batavia with his family at his side. He was born March 26, 1919 in Batavia, NY to the late Ralph and Ruth (Mapes) Amidon, also preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Dorothy (Foster) Amidon on July 21, 2012; infant daughter, Darylynn; daughter, Madonna Babcock and brother, Gerald Amidon.

   Mr. Amidon was a Marine Corp Veteran having served with the 2nd Marine Division during WWII in the Asiatic Pacific Area and participated in action against the enemy in Okinawa. He was a lifelong truck driver working for Dohler-Jarvis for many years along with other various companies in the area and was an avid reader of the newspaper. He and his late wife loved to travel, enjoyed the years they spent in Florida and the many animals they shared over the years.

   Surviving are his loving daughters, Kathleen (David) Cutitta of Batavia, Tamara (late Charles) Augello of Elba and Dawn (Paul) Hough of Elba; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

   Gordon's family will be present from 4-7 p.m. Friday February 20, 2015 at the MICHAEL S. TOMASZEWSKI FUNERAL & CREMATION CHAPEL, LLC 4120 WEST MAIN STREET ROAD BATAVIA, NEW YORK 14020 prayers will be recited 10:30 a.m. Saturday February 21, 2015 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m. at Resurrections Parish (St. Mary's Site). He will be laid to rest with full military honors alongside his wife in St. Joseph's Cemetery and memorials in his memory can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project PO Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675.
