Joan C. Stark

Joan C. Stark, 83 of Eden, formerly of Akron, NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday (March 1, 2015) at St. Francis Home in Williamsville, NY.

She was born in Buffalo, NY on August 22, 1931, daughter of the late Clarence P. and Catherine Schimmer Wangler.

Joan was a former Sister of St. Joseph and a cook for the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Williamsville.  She was a member of St. Teresa’s Church in Akron.  Joan also enjoyed cooking and baking and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Stark.

Survivors include three brothers, Paul (Karen) Wangler of West Falls, NY, Thomas (Gayle) Wangler of Newton, MA and David (Marilyn) Wangler of Edmonton, Alberta.  Two sisters, Ann (late William) Sayers of Akron and Mary (late Jack) Young of Pembroke.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Family and friends are cordially invited to share thoughts, condolences and fond memories on Wednesday (March 4th) from 3-7pm at the J. LEONARD MCANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 32 JOHN ST., AKRON, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, 10am at St. Teresa’s R.C. Church, Buell St. , Akron.  Interment will be in Clarence Center Cemetery.
