Clifton W. Bailey Jr.

Clifton W. Bailey Jr., 92, of Warsaw, formerly of Attica died on Saturday December 16, 2017 at the New York State Veterans Home at Batavia. Clifton was born on February 26, 1925 to the late Clifton W. Bailey Sr. and Cecil (Allen) Bailey in Binghamton, NY. Clifton was predeceased by his wife Jean M. (Chaplin) Bailey who passed away on Oct. 18, 2010; Randall Chaplin and Stacey Chaplin.

Clifton served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a signalman and port gunner on the destroyer/minesweeper USS Ellyson. After the war he went to work for the NYS Electric & Gas Corp. from which he retired. Clifton was an accomplished woodworker and woodcarver. He was a long time Ham Radio operator and was very proud of his call sign “K2LD”.

Surviving are his sons; Brian (Judi) Bailey of Warsaw, Bryon (Valerie) Bailey of FL., Robert (Cindy) Chaplin of Waterport, Ronald Chaplin of Gainesville; along with his grand, great-grand, great-great grandchildren.

At Clifton’s request, there will be no prior calling hours or services.

The family would like to thank the staff of the NYS Veterans Home for their kindness and care during Clifton’s stay in the Erie Cottage.
