Mrs. Frances R. Ford

Batavia - Mrs. Frances R. Ford, age 101, of Batavia, passed away peacefully surrounded with the love of her family on May 8, 2018 at United Memorial Medical Center.

Born July 12, 1916 and raised in Batavia, Frances was a daughter of the late Albert and Laura Rumsey.

Frances was a longtime member of St. Paul Episcopal Church in Stafford, the Batavia Senior Center Quilting Club, the Holland Land Office Historical Society, the Stafford Historical Society, the Older Boys and Gals Club and the Tonawanda Valley Collectors Club. She was an avid golfer, seamstress and gardener. Frances enjoyed traveling to Florida and attending social events. She, along with her late husband Wayne, were avid square dancers.

Her husband, Wayne L.  Ford, passed away in 1981.

Frances is survived by her son, Wayne A. (Mary) Ford of Stafford; a daughter, Laura (Ray) Ladd of Bethany; a sister, Elizabeth (Warren) Ward of Batavia; 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She is the mother of the late Jack Ford and sister of the late Arthur Rumsey, Albert W. Rumsey Sr., George Rumsey and Howard Rumsey.

Friends and family may call on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. Services will immediately follow visitation at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Colleen O’Connor will officiate. She will be laid to rest in Stafford Rural Cemetery.
