JOSEPH P. MICKEY

JOSEPH P. MICKEY ~ age 64, of Elba, NY, died peacefully September 11, 2018 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born February 13, 1954, in Batavia, NY, the son of the late Joseph J. and Anna J. (Gavel) Mickey. 

Joe served country honorably in the US Navy aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. He was retired from the NYS Thruway in Batavia where he was employed for over 20 years. Joe enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, boating, fishing and gardening, he was most proud of his Polish heritage and enjoyed making sauerkraut with family and friends. He loved the Miami Dolphins, had an extensive "Crazy Hat" collection, but the true joys of his life were, his granddaughters, Kelly, Halle and Laney.

He is survived by his loving son, Joseph D. (Sarah) Mickey of Elba; beloved siblings, Linda Cunningham, Susan Mickey, Carol (Angelo) Gifaldi, Nancy Mickey, Gary (Tina) Mickey and Sharon (Steven) Lauzzie along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews.

Please join the Mickey family on Saturday October 13, 2018 at, 4940 Barrville Road Elba, NY 14058 for a Celebration of Joe's Life. He will be laid to rest in St. Joseph's  Cemetery with his parents, and memorials in his memory can be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Strong Memorial Hospital or Genesee Cancer Assistance.
