Bernard G. Poole

BATAVIA - Bernard G. Poole, 85, of Batavia, a truck driver with Consolidated Freightways in Tonawanda prior to his retirement, died on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at the New York State Veteran's Nursing Home.

Bernard was born June 17, 1933, in Sisterville, West Virginia, a son of the late Harry Everett and Hazel (Wagner) Poole.

He served during the Korean War with the US Navy, was a member of the Hiram G. Luhman American Legion Post No. 626 in Alabama, Ira Spring Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 273 in Oakfield and the Teamsters Union Local No. 449. 

Survivors include 3 daughters, Cindy Poole of NC, Nancy (John) Oakley of Buffalo and  Joanna Poole of Batavia; a son, Thomas (Susan) Poole of Albion;  a brother, Paul (Barbara) Poole of GA; a sister, Almeda Losacco of CA; 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.     

He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert, Carlos, Leon, Victor Sr. and Alvin Poole.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bernard's memory may be made to Hiram G.
