Clare Marie Sloat

Bergen - Clare Marie Sloat, 76, of Bergen, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2019 at Unity Hospital.

Clare was born December 8, 1942, in Batavia, a daughter of the late William and Julia (Terol) Shaw.

Clare was a member of Godfrey's Pond, Acorns and the Genesee Symphony, where she was also an officer.  She was also a member of the Batavia Players, where she was an officer and a performer.  Clare was a geocacher with over 30,000 finds and a member of the Bea Hive Geocachers.  She was an assistant director for the Batavia Rotary Shows for seven and half years, having performed in those shows for many years.  She was an usher for Geva Theatre and the JCC.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald W. Sloat of Bergen; children, Todd (Jeanie) Sloat of Stafford, Lynn (Rob) Hayes of Bath and Timm (Jeanne) Sloat of Byron; grandchildren, Catheryn Hayes, Deborah Hayes, Nathan Hayes, Sarah Hayes, Jordan Sloat, Lacey Sloat and Larisa Sloat; a brother, William (late Josephine) Shaw of Syracuse and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Calling hours are Monday, September 9 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia, where services will be held Tuesday, September 10 at 11:00 a.m.  Clare will be laid to rest in Grandview Cemetery, Batavia.
