George Cupicha

BETHANY - George Cupicha, 87, of Bethany, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2019, at East Side Nursing Home in Warsaw.

George was born January 10, 1932, in the house in which he lived his entire life, in Bethany.  He was the son of the late George and Mary (Salat) Cupicha.

He was a 1951 graduate of Alexander High School, a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in East Bethany and served his country during the Korean War.  He was a Corrections Officer for NYS Dept of Corrections at Attica Prison for over 27 years prior to his retirement, but he was a lifelong and dedicated farmer first.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce (Spring) Cupicha, whom he married on December 30, 1954; 2 daughters, Darlene (Late Raymond) Follett of Attica and Donna (James) Keough of Warsaw; a son, Mark Cupicha of Bethany; 3 grandchildren, Sara (David) Pollock of Batavia, Maura Cupicha of Warsaw and Daniel (Brooke) Follett of Batavia; a sister, Mary Carl of Buffalo; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Stella, Genevive, Laura, Eleanor, Joseph, John, Andrew and Peter.

Mr. Cupicha's Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at the Resurrection Parish - St. Joseph's Church 303 East Main St., Batavia with Fr. Ivan Trujilio officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in George's memory may be made to Bethany Volunteer Fire Department, 5253 Old Telephone Rd.  East Bethany, NY14054.  Arrangements were entrusted to the H.E.
