Juanita A. Brooks

Oakfield - Juanita A. Brooks, 93, of Oakfield, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2019, at her home under the care of her family and HomeCare and Hospice.

Juanita was born December 5, 1925, in Butler, the daughter of the late Aaron and Florence (Finch) Thomas.

Juanita was a member of the Oakfield United Methodist Church since 1936, where she was the choir director.  She founded the Smiling Dry Bones, was on the board for the Office for the Aging, a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Lions Club, where she served as the zone chairman.  Juanita was also the choir director at the Elba United Methodist Church and was a secretary at the former American Stone Mix in Batavia.  She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Juanita loved her roses and animals, especially birds.

Survivors include her husband, Wilfred Brooks of Oakfield, whom she married on October 24, 1947; children, Craige Brooks of Oakfield, Braad (Dianne) Brooks of Oakfield, Linne (late Gordon) Hopkins of Dansville and Heather Brooks of Oakfield; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Calling hours are Monday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Oakfield United Methodist Church, 2 South Main Street in Oakfield, where services will be held at 6:00 p.m. also on Monday.  Juanita will be laid to rest in Cary Cemetery, Oakfield.
