Elizabeth A. 'Betsi' Osterman

Elizabeth A. "Betsi" Osterman, age 64, of Wyoming, NY, passed away peacefully at home on September 19, 2019 under the care of her loving family and hospice.

She was born September 16, 1955 in New York City, daughter of the late Anna Elizabeth Glazer.

Betsi was a veteran of the U.S. Army. She worked for many years at the Wyoming County Jail in Warsaw and in more recent years, worked as a custody officer at the Batavia Federal Detention Center prior to her retirement.

Betsi was a life member of the Wyoming Hook & Ladder Company where she served as a firefighter, EMT and EMT captain. She was a proud 9/11 first responder from Wyoming County.

With her husband, Gary, Betsi cared for over 50 foster children over a 10-year span. She also had a great love for all animals, especially her birds, and at one time owned and operated an exotic pet shop. Betsi was also very proud of her 2010 Camaro Transformer Bumble Bee vehicle.

Betsi’s life was guided by her deep devotion to her Lord. It showed in her service to her community and her love for her family. She had a great fondness for Israel and made several trips to the Middle East and the Holy Land.

Surviving are: her husband of 42 years, Gary Osterman; her children, Kristen (Jeffrey) Wysocki, of Wyoming, and Aaron (Lindsay) Osterman, of Batavia; grandchildren, Conner, Rylee and Aaron II; her brother, Edward (Becky) White, of Pennsylvania; her mother-in-law, Betty (the late Wallace) Osterman, of Wyoming; brothers-in-law, Karl (Melody) Osterman, of Pavilion, Jim (Mary Jane) Osterman, of Florida; sister-in-law, Judy (Mike) Strathearn, of Wyoming; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Saturday, September 21 from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw. A firefighter’s memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Betsi’s funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Wyoming, Main St., Wyoming. Burial will follow in Wyoming Cemetery.
