Mr. Henry R. Klein

LeRoy- Henry R. Klein, 94, of LeRoy, longtime resident of Batavia, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at United Memorial Medical Center.

Henry was born June 12, 1925, in Batavia, a son of the late John and Margaret Winling Klein.

He retired from the City of Batavia Fire Department after 30 years of service. For over 20 years, he ran a fire extinguisher sales and service business throughout the community. A life-long member of St. Joseph's Church, he was a member of the American Legion and a life member of the DAV. He and his wife were avid square-dancers who enjoyed camping. He proudly served his country with the United States Navy during World War II and stormed Omaha Beach during the D-Day Invasion in France.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Kelley Klein, whom he married January 17, 1953; his daughters; Christine (Charles) Kuehl of East Bethany and Barbara (Paul) Hart of San Antonio, Texas; his son; David Klein of Groveland, Florida; six granddaughters; Jennifer Nagelhout, Stacey (Kelly) Mileham, Melissa (Christopher) Lacey, Ruth (Roger) Rodriguez, Amy (George) DeRosa and  Paula (JR) Rodriguez; nine great-grandchildren; his sister; Veronica Miller; his sisters-in-law; Celia Klein and Daisy Klein, and several nieces and nephews. 

He is predeceased by his brothers; Donald, Joseph, Edward, Cornelius and Paul Klein and his sisters; Helen Zorn, Cecilia Zackey, Eileen Amedick, Margaret Radice, Henrietta Imbrecht and Regina Redivivo.

Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 28th at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia where services will immediately follow visitation. Fr. Ivan Trujilio will be officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Henry's memory may be made to the activities fund at the New York State Veteran's Nursing Home, 220 Richmond Avenue, Batavia, New York 14020.
