Frank Bakos

MARYVILLE, TN - Frank Bakos, 70, of Maryville, TN, formerly of East Pembroke, NY, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at in Knoxville, TN.

Frank was born March 14, 1949, in Batavia, NY, a son of the late Frank and Florence (Plewniak) Bakos.

After graduating from Batavia High School (1967), Frank earned undergraduate degrees at Northwestern Michigan College (Traverse City, MI; 1971) and SUNY Oswego (1974). He earned a Masters degree in Vocational Technical Education from SUNY Buffalo in 1980 and in 2004, received his ASME GDTP certification.

He was a former BOCES Machine Shop Instructor, former employee at Eastman Kodak Co. and for the last 20 years, as the owner of Frank Bakos Associates, exclusively consulted for Tec-Ease, Inc.  He was a leader within the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and served as Chairman for various committees of Senior Level Certified Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing professionals.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Darlene M. (Peck) Bakos; 2 sons, Aaron F. (Pam) Bakos of Knoxville, TN and Adam D. (Katie) Bakos of Elma, NY; a daughter, Laura A. Bakos (Shayan Rastegari) of Maryville, TN; 4 brothers, Thomas (Eleanor) Bakos of Batavia, NY, Paul (Barbara) Bakos of Bel Air, MD, Stephen Bakos of Perry, NY, and Bernard (Mary) Bakos of Batavia, NY; 5 grandchildren (Elliott, Aria, Sophie, Evelyn, and Rumi) and several nieces and nephews.

Frank is preceded in death by a sister, Bernadine Foote, formerly of Elba.

Receiving of friends will take place between 3 and 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 E. Main St., Batavia, followed by a memorial service at 10 am on Monday, with the Rev. Matthew Gold officiating.  Frank will be laid to rest following services in Grandview Cemetery in Batavia, NY.
