Marilyn Morton

Marilyn Morton, of North Tonawanda, formerly of Batavia, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2019.  She was born on September 30, 1936 in Batavia, New York to the late Russell and Anne (Rogan) Morton.  Marilyn is predeceased by brothers Russell A. Morton, Jr.; and the Honorable Glenn R. Morton.

Marilyn was involved in nursing throughout her life, as an RN, LPN, Public Health Nurse, and through her significant community involvement.  Marilyn began her career as a surgical nurse in Batavia and Buffalo, New York and then became an instructor at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh.  At Plattsburgh State, Marilyn held several positions instructing students, headed the Nursing Department, and also participated on the College's Steering Committee and Faculty Senate.  Marilyn earned her Master’s degree at Tulane University focusing on Public Health Nursing which she used throughout her career, as well as volunteering for community health initiatives, and through her Parish, Saint Peters.

Marilyn was active in many community, health, and religious events and organizations including: fundraisers, community outreach programs for the sick and elderly, helping to bring Hospice to Clinton County, and was also active in local historical events.  She was a lifelong learner and community supporter and she enjoying knitting, needlepoint, and gardening in her spare time.

Marilyn is survived by her nieces and nephews; Melissa Clark of Rochester PA, Katherine (James) Nicoletti (James) of Webster NY, Glenn (Dana) Morton III of North Tonawanda, Timothy-Jay Morton and M. Rogan (Joseph Cardinal) Morton of Buffalo; and many grand nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 9:30 to 11:30 AM at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main St. Batavia, New York 14020. A 12:00 Noon Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Resurrection Parish (St. Joseph's) 303 E. Main Street Batavia.  She will be entombed in St. Josephs Mausoleum, Batavia.
