Alfred L. Feeney

  Alfred L. Feeney, formerly of Attica, passed away with his family by his side on January 22, 2020 in Peachtree, Ga. He was born in Worcester, MA on November 02, 1928 to the late Daniel and Elizabeth (Ryan) Feeney. He was the youngest of seven children.  Al was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mary Jean (Holahan) Feeney on March 16, 2019.

Al graduated from Case Western Reserve in 1953 and served in Japan with the United States Air Force from 1954-1957. He was a Little All American football player and was inducted to the Case Western Reserve Hall of Fame in 1987. He started his civilian career as a Physical Education teacher and coach.  His 1957-58 Jasper High School basketball team won the Section V Class D title.  He became a Guidance Counselor at Attica High School in 1962 and served as Principal from 1964 - 1991.  .

Al was proudest of his family and loved to brag about their accomplishments. Many a referee, coach, or teacher got his input on how they could do better by his kids. Like many of his era, he went without so that his kids could have more. Al touched the lives of many people in Attica and beyond. Many of his former students credit him with being a big part of their success.

Alfred is survived by his children, Sean (Kate), Margaret, Elizabeth (Phyllis), Kevin (Dana), and Timothy (Karyn) Feeney; grandchildren, Claire Feeney, Allison (Brian) Kinard, Tyler, Ben, Kaden, Kole, Trey, and Maggie Feeney; great granddaughter, Greer Kinard.

A Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at the Marley Funeral Home, LLC, 135 Main St., Attica, NY 14011. . A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Sts. Joachim & Anne Roman Catholic Church, 50 East Ave. in Attica, NY.  Burial with Military Honors will be in St Michael’s Cemetery, Warsaw, NY.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Attica Booster Club PO Box 192 Attica, NY 14011.   For more information please call 585-591-1212, or to leave a message of condolence, please visit www.marleyfuneralhome.com.
