David Peter Cummings

Bergen- David Peter "Pete" Cummings, 61, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2020, at Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center.

Pete was born June 9, 1958, in Rochester, a son of Elizabeth C. (Fodge) Cummings and the late Donald A. Cummings of Bergen, NY.

Surviving along with his mother are his siblings; Donald (Melanie) Cummings of Palmyra, John (Christine) Cummings of Bergen, Bob (Jane) Cummings of Gates, Liz (Ron) Vergamini of North Chili, Kevin (Debra) Cummings of Churchville and Paul (Susan) Cummings of Churchville. Pete is also survived by sixteen nieces and nephews and twenty-two great-nieces and great-nephews.

Pete loved basketball, especially the Boston Celtics and Larry Bird. He was an enthusiast for the sport and was well versed in the statistics that went along with basketball. He enjoyed talking with people on the telephone and had a knack for making great connections through those conversations. His other favorite things were Ralph & Rosie’s Pizza, Pepsi, Payday candy bars, homemade chocolate chip cookies and McDonald's. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a smart, kind, gentle and friendly person with a great sense of humor.

Pete's family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Elderwood of Lakeside at Brockport for the excellent love, care and support they gave to their brother and to the staff at Hildebrandt Hospice who made his final days comfortable.

There will be no visitation.  Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, private services will be held at the convenience of the family. He will be laid to rest in St. Brigid's Cemetery, Bergen, NY. A public Memorial Mass will be scheduled in the future for Pete at St. Brigid's Church, 18 Gibson, Street, Bergen. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Pete's memory may be made to Elderwood of Lakeside at Brockport, 170 West Avenue, Brockport, New York 14420 where memorials will be used for resident activities.
