Gary Clark

Gary Clark 74, of Elba and Batavia, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a lengthy illness on June 12, 2020 at Premier Rehabilitation Center in Batavia. Born April 6, 1946 in Batavia, he was the son of the late Darwin (Estella Maier) Clark.

Gary served as Director of Probation for over 30 years until his retirement in 2006. While serving in Vietnam as a Helicopter Pilot with D Troop 3/5 Air Cavalry from 1968 to 1972, Chief Warrant Officer Clark earned the Distinguished Flying Cross Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star, Soldiers Medal for Heroism, Air Medal V Device and Air Medal 39 Award, for Heroic and Meritorious Achievement in aerial flight. CW4 Clark joined the New York State National Guard after returning home from Vietnam until his retirement in 1998 where he was awarded his Master Aviator Wings.

While a member of the community Gary also served as Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Batavia, Iroquois Trail Council of Boy Scouts of America and Council of Probation Administrators for Western New York. Gary was a lifetime member of the Stafford Fire Department.

Gary is survived by his loving wife Denise Clark, his sons, Michael (Melissa) Clark, Stephen (Rachael) Clark, stepchildren David (Kate) Long, Daniel (Darla) Long, Shannon (Sean) O’Brien; Grandchildren who he loved so much, Emily Clark and Olivia O’Brien; dear friends Michael Ricketts and David Siranni. His brother Robert predeceased him.

Friends are invited to an 11:00 AM Graveside Service on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Elba. All Social Distancing protocol will be practiced at the cemetery.
