Mary Jane Carr

Stafford - Mary Jane Carr , 86  of Stafford,  passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing in Batavia.  

Mrs. Carr was born December 9, 1933 in Oakfield, a daughter of the late Reuben Howard, Sr. and Edith (Lauvey) Howard.

Following high school, Mary worked as a telephone operator with NY Telephone followed by working in the parts department for Trojan.  Finally, Mary worked in the cafeteria at Batavia Middle School where she enjoyed the children.  She volunteered along with her husband with the Genesee Co. History Department and enjoyed crocheting, working jigsaw puzzles, and reading.  She liked panda bears along with feeding and watching birds. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Batavia.  

Surviving are her husband, James Carr of Stafford; children, Cindy Chudoba of Alexander, Nancy Forsyth of Batavia, David Chudoba of Alexander, Kristan (Franklin) Nash of Webster, and Scott (Len Cercone) Carr of Buffalo; a sister-in-law,  Marlene Howard; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson.  Mary is also survived by her beloved cat, Miracle.

Preceded in death by brothers, Charles and Reuben Howard, Jr.; sisters, Shirley Howard, Lorraine (late Harvey) Sebor, Dorothy Stevens, and Evelyn (late Robert) Phelps.

Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, (August 29, 2020)  from 11:00 am  to 12:00 pm  at Grace Baptist Church, 238 Vine Street in Batavia, where Mary 's Funeral Service will be held immediately following visitation.  Burial will be in the future Western New York Veteran's Cemetery in Pembroke.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 529 E. Main St., Batavia, NY 14020.
