Mary Cecere

Mary Cecere, 96, of Batavia, faithful wife and devoted mother of 7 died Tuesday October 6th 2020 at 5:55 a.m. peacefully in her sleep at the NYS Veterans Home in Batavia, NY.  Mary was born May 15th 1924. Mary is predeceased by her husband Louis Cecere (October 12, 2004) and by her parents Thomas Glannan and Ellen Dilworth Glannan, as well as three sisters and one brother, in addition to in-laws Angelo and Adeline Sangus Cecere.

Survived by a sister, Margaret in the UK, and children Thomas (Felicia), Albert, Louis, Mary Lou (Darryl), Ellen, Margaret, and Peter (Kathleen). Survived also by 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.  

Her life was devoted to her family and her Roman Catholic faith as well as her native English heritage. She was an active member of the St. Joseph’s Church choir for many many years as well as the Catholic Daughters. Mary was also a loyal and longtime employee of Combs, Forsyth, and Phillips Veterinarians.

Due to COVID 19 and the mandated regulations, Mary's Mass of Christian Burial will be held privately by her immediate family at Resurrection Parish, St. Joseph's Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Elementary School, 2 Summit Street, Batavia, NY 14020, Notre Dame High School, 73 Union Street, Batavia, NY 14020 or the New York State Veterans Home, 220 Richmond Avenue, Batavia, NY 14020.
