Elizabeth J. Suttell

Batavia - Elizabeth J. Suttell, age 94, of Batavia, longtime guidance counselor at LeRoy High School, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at her home.

Ms. Suttell was born December 22, 1925 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Edward B. Suttell and Clara (Lee) Suttell. 

Elizabeth received her undergraduate degree from D'Youville College where she graduated cum laude and was a member of Kappa Gamma Pi. Following her undergraduate work she received Master's Degrees from Cornell and Canisius Colleges. A lifetime member of Resurrection Parish, she was a member of The Delta Kappa Gamma International Society; a professional honorary society of women educators and the New York State Retired Teachers Association. She grew up with her cousin Theresa Lawrence, with whom she traveled extensively throughout the world. Prior to working at LeRoy Central School, she taught at the New York State School for the Blind. 

She is survived by seven nieces and nephews; Kathleen (Ritchie) Fisher, Richard (Ann Marie) Suttell, Edward “Ted” Suttell, Timothy (Paula) Suttell, Elizabeth (Craig) Lyons, Susan (Dick) Reynolds and Stephen Wilson. She is also survived by several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Her family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to her caregivers, especially Elaine Falker-Eick. 

She is predeceased by her siblings; Edward B. (Elsie) Suttell, Rita (Jack) Wilson and J. Richard (Mary Jane) Suttell and her niece, Kristine Suttell. 

There are no prior visiting hours. Elizabeth's Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Friday, November 13th, 2020 from St. Joseph's Church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph's Mausoleum, Batavia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Resurrection Parish, 303 E. Main St., Batavia, NY 14020 or to the Michael Napoleone Memorial Foundation, P.O. Box 267, Batavia, NY 14021.
