Roger J. Grazioplene Sr.

Roger J. Grazioplene Sr. 76, of Batavia, passed away from health complications with his loving son by his side on November 6, 2020 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Roger was born in Batavia, June 9, 1944 to the late Alfonso Grazioplene and Jane (Olkucki) Grazioplene Van Buskirk and step-son to the late Floyd Van Buskirk. He is preceded in death by daughter Julie Hahn, brothers Gerry and Robert (Anne) Grazioplene.

Mr. Grazioplene was a member of Ascension and Resurrection Parishes, the former St. Nicholas Club, American Legion, D.A.V., VWF Post 1602 and Polish Falcons Nest 493.

Roger proudly served in the US Army from 1968-1970, went into NCO School and served in Vietnam 69’-70’. He was highly decorated, receiving the Purple Heart, a cluster of Bronze Stars, and many other commendations.

A man who loved sports, Roger played baseball and bowled for many years. He was also an avid golfer and played in a league with his buddies for decades.

He is survived by his beloved wife of more than 56 years Mary “Mickey” (Tenebruso) Grazioplene; son Roger (Martha) Grazioplene Jr.; daughter Bianca Grazioplene, grandchildren Maria, Porshe, Mercedes and great-grandson Lucah; sister Joyce (Joseph) Acitelli; sister-in-law Jeanette Grazioplene, along with many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 from 3 to 7 PM at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main Street, Batavia, New York 14020. You are also invited to join the family at St. Joseph’s Mausoleum, 10:45 AM on Thursday, November 12, 2020 for Military Honor’s.
