Joseph S. Marcello, 92 of Batavia, passed away peacefully Friday, November 20, 2020 at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Batavia. He was born January 9, 1928 in Batavia, to the late Genaro (Frances Moretti) Marcello. He is preceded in death by his beloved son Nicholas Marcello who passed away in 2016, brothers Alex and Frank Marcello.

Mr. Marcello worked many years at GTE Sylvania, RE Chapin and Batavia Downs Harness Racing until retiring in 2000. He was a WWII and Korean War Veteran, he proudly served in the Merchant Marines, US Air Force and US Army. Mr. Marcello enjoyed hunting, playing horseshoes and sitting on the porch with a glass of wine and a good book. He was a big fan of the New York Yankees and especially Notre Dame Football.

Surviving is his wife of 69 years Frances (Colantonio) Marcello of Batavia, children, Joseph G. (Denise) Marcello of Hattiesburg, MS, Mark P. (Roni) Marcello, Phillip J. (Kim) Marcello, Ava M. (Ronald) King, Lori A. (Robert) Waite, loving sister Elizabeth Kinne, sister-in-law Carmella Ilacqua all of Batavia, 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no prior calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held privately for the family. He will be entombed in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum.
