Gary Elwood Tripp

By Billie Owens

Gary Elwood Tripp, age 62, of East Pembroke, died Friday morning, Dec. 11. 2020 at Unity Hospital in Rochester, New York. He was born July 1, 1958 to the late Guy and Marjorie (Bissell) Tripp.

Gary was an avid contributor to his community as a lifelong volunteer emergency responder through work with East Pembroke and Alabama fire departments, LeRoy Ambulance Services and with the American Red Cross.

As a retired Nurse, Gary contributed to and then ran the Batavia Flea Market for many years, was a previous member of the County Agricultural Security Board, and was always looking for a way to help people in need.

Gary was a lifelong friend of almost anyone he met because of his outgoing spirit and genuine generosity. He appreciated being in the moment; to stop to enjoy a sunset, take pictures and share his experiences. Finally, Gary was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his fur-babies and those he loved; cherishing them as his most valued possession.

Surviving are his companion, Kathryn Sobresky, his brother James (Terry) Tripp, both of Batavia; his sons James Tripp, of Basom, and USAF TSgt Jeremy (Jessica) Tripp, of Chili; grandchildren, Patrick, Scott. Shawn, Natalie and Nicholas Tripp; and several nieces and nephews.

At his family’s request, there is no visitation or funeral services. He will be interred privately in Mt. Rest Cemetery in Bergen. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his memory can be made to your local volunteer fire department or Mercy Flight.
