Angelo C. Ianni, 97, of Akron, passed away unexpectedly Saturday (December 12, 2020) at his residence.

He was born September 25, 1923 in Oakfield, NY, son of the late John and Elizabeth Barone Ianni.

Mr. Ianni was employed with the former Sylvania and Masse Harris companies in Batavia prior to his retirement. He also was an avid tennis player in his older years. He was extremely proud of his military service to his country. He was a WWII Veteran with the U.S. Army Air Corps and witnessed the take off of the Enola Gay as it made its historic voyage to Japan. Mr. Ianni was selected to participate in the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. to view the WWII monument in recognition of his service to his country.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Poodry Ianni of Akron, his sister, Rose (late Alfred) DeAngeli of Clarence, and nieces and nephews Darlene Panara, Lynn Ianni Bagnall, John Ianni, and Ronald DeAngeli.

Mr. Ianni is predeceased by his step-daughter, Lucia Jones; brother, Herman (Josephine) Ianni; sister, Helen (Raffaele) Santilli; and nephew, James Santilli.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial with military honors will be in Cary Cemetery.
