James A. “Sarce” “Jim” Saraceni, 56, of Batavia passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at the New York State Veteran’s Home in Batavia. He was born in Batavia, N.Y., on June 27, 1964, to Anthony “Red” and Marcella “Marcy” (O’Neil) Saraceni.

Jim proudly served in the United States Navy and then worked for O-AT-KA Milk Products for 29 years. He was an avid sports fan, and cheered for the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres.

Jim was deeply loved by all who knew him for his witty sense of humor, free-spirit attitude, and charming personality. He could light up a room with just a smile and treated everyone with dignity and respect. Jim was the type of person to give all that he had in order to help others, never expecting anything in return. Jim enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and going on special trips to the zoo, amusement parks, Niagara Falls, and bowling alley with his daughter, nieces, and nephews.

He is survived by his daughter, Rachel Saraceni; parents Anthony and Marcella Saraceni of Batavia; brothers Jeffrey “Jeff” Saraceni, Jerald “Jerry” (Debbie) Saraceni of Illinois, and Joseph “Joe” Saraceni; nieces Justine Saraceni and Jordyn Saraceni; nephews Jeffrey (Kaitlin) Saraceni, and Joseph Saraceni Jr., who is also his Godson; great-nephew Everett Saraceni; great-nieces Amelia Spicer and Marcella “Ella” Saraceni; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kevin Mudd, his team, and the staff at the NYS Veteran’s Home for doing everything they could for James and keeping him as comfortable as possible.

Services will be held privately, and he will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum, Batavia.
