Mrs. Joyce L. Bassett

Batavia - Joyce  L. Bassett, 87  of Batavia, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Bassett was born March 23, 1933 in Warsaw, a daughter of the late Lewis Bush and Charlotte Stevens Bush.

She retired from the New York State School for the Blind as the kitchen supervisor and was the former manager at The Batavia Club. Along with her late husband, Robert, they were the original owners and proprietors of The Batavia Party House. She loved being with her family.

Joyce is the wife of the late Robert F. Bassett who passed away on April 11, 2005.

Surviving are her daughter, Stacey (William) Bradley of Batavia; her daughter-in-law, Robin Bassett of Batavia;  five grandchildren; Melissa (Chad) Maniace, Marla Bassett and Justin, Brandon and Ethan Bradley; two great-grandchildren; Brooke and Brielle Maniace along with several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her son, Wayne William Bassett, who passed away on February 12, 2019 and her siblings, Gerald, Homer, Wayne, Richard Bush, her twin brother Jack Bush, June Monagan, Phyllis Irwin, Diana Dumbleton and Marilyn Cristie.

There are no prior visiting hours. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.   She will be laid to rest in Grand View Cemetery, Batavia. A public celebration to honor Joyce will be held during the summer at a time, date and place to be announced.
