Richard A. Cecere

Richard  A.  Cecere, 84, of Alexander, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at his home.

Richard was born August 19, 1936 in Batavia, a son of the late Anthony and Anna (Palvino) Cecere.

Richard loved being with his family, raising his turkeys, mowing his lawn and going to the track and watching the horses race.  He was an avid outdoors-man.  Richard was a member of Resurrection Parish and was inducted into the Batavia High School Sports Hall of Fame.  He was a steel worker at Continental Can Company in LeRoy and was also a veteran, serving with the United States Army.

Surviving are his wife, Helen (Gilhooly) Cecere of Alexander; children, Richard (Melanie) Cecere of Alexander, Debra (Tom) Irr of Arcade, Jeff (Jill) Cecere of Alexander, Julie Heale of Alexander and Gary Cecere of Bergen; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Richard is the brother of the late Adeline Cecere and William Cecere.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 4, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia.  Please join Richard's family for his military honors which will be held in the front parking lot of Resurrection Parish, 303 East Main Street in Batavia, on Tuesday, January 5 at 10:15 a.m.  Richard's funeral mass will be held privately by his family.   

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the funeral home will be limited to 25 people throughout the course of calling hours. Please be prepared to wait outside. Face coverings and social distancing are required. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
