Judith L. Thrasher

Batavia - Judith L.  Thrasher, age 78, of Batavia passed away at her home.

Judy was born Wednesday, December 2, 1942 in Batavia, a daughter of the late James Francis Thrasher and Marion J. Kershner Thrasher.

A graduate of Notre Dame High School, she furthered her education at the former Rosary Hill College (now Daemen College) where she earned her bachelor's degree. Judy received her Master's Degree in Social Work from Boston College and served in the Peace Corps in Ecuador from 1966-1968. She worked at the probation department in Genesee County and spent many years as a Spanish speaking corrections officer for Wyoming County Correctional Facility, Livingston County Correctional Facility and Albion Correctional Facility. A longtime member of St. Mary's Church, Judy was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox, Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills.

Surviving are her sister, Suellen (Michael) Graney of Webster; brothers-in-law; James P. Murphy of Jamestown and Dr. Joseph Zambon of Buffalo; along with loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and several dear friends.

Judy is predeceased by her sisters; Maureen Zambon and Roberta Murphy.

There are no prior visiting hours. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held for her family. She will be entombed in St. Joseph's Mausoleum.
