Immaculata Iannello

Batavia - Immaculata Iannello, 73 of Batavia, passed away on Friday, (May 14, 2021) at Elderwood at Brockport.

Mrs. Iannello was born July 17, 1947 in Asheville, North Carolina a daughter of the late Fortunato and Angela Rose (Chereso) Ilasi.

Immaculata earned a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology from Rosary Hill College (now Daemen College) and had a more than 40 year career working first at St. Jerome Hospital and then United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. She retired as the head of Bacteriology. Mrs. Iannello was a parishioner of Resurrection Parish. She loved to read and watch television and movies - especially science fiction. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and her love of a good story.

Immaculata is the wife of the late John Samuel Iannello.

Surviving are her sons, John Iannello of Batavia, and Joseph Iannello of Lockport; grandchildren, Graclyn Ptak and Rae Iannello both of Burnsville, North Carolina; brothers, Nicholas (Constance) Ilasi of Batavia, and Salvatore Ilasi of Los Angeles, Cali.; brother-in-law, Richard (Anne) Iannello of Batavia. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Coraline Iannello, and a brother, Stephen (late Elaine) Ilasi.  

Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm  at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street in Batavia.  Immaculata 's Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, (May 20, 2021) from St. Joseph's Church, 303 East Main Street in Batavia.  Burial will be in St.  Joseph's Cemetery in Batavia.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Volunteers for Animals, PO Box 1621, Batavia, NY 14021.
