Mrs. Melody A. Davis

East Bethany - Melody A. Davis, age 66, of East Bethany  passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

Mel was born on December 22, 1954 on the Tonawanda Indian Reservation, a daughter of the late John Black, Sr. and Margaret Steeprock Black.

A lifetime member of the East Bethany Volunteer Fire Department, she served as the EMS Captain for the fire department for 10 years. An active member of the Genesee County EMS Council, Mel was the CPR instructor for the Red Cross, longtime sideline medic and first aide trainer for the Batavia Bulldawgs. You would always find her in the stands or on the sidelines at her grandsons sporting events

Melody is the wife of Francis J. Davis who passed away on May 26, 2016.

Surviving are her son; Jed (Jessica) Davis of Batavia; her grandsons; Cole and Andrew Davis; her brother-in-law; Edward (late Rita) Davis, Jr. of Arizona; her sister-in-law; Cathy (David) Van Galio of Buffalo; several nieces and nephews along with her lifelong friends; Lu Ann Henry, Ann Hausfelder, Vicki Magers and Peggy Johnson and Dan Adams, a close friend to Mel.

She is predeceased by her son, Benjamin J. Davis who passed away on January 29, 2001 and her brother, John Black, Jr.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, August 30th, 2021 from 4:00 pm  to 8:00 pm at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia, where members of the fire service community will gather at 8 pm . Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 31st, 2021 at the funeral home.  She will be laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery with her husband Fran and her son, Ben.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany Volunteer Fire Department, 5253 Old Telephone Road, East Bethany, New York 14054.
