George F. Forsyth

George F. Forsyth, 89, of Batavia, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021 at Premier Genesee Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Batavia.

George was born February 14, 1932 in Batavia, a son of the late Anson and Florence (Ferguson) Forsyth.

George was a former member of the Town of Batavia Fire Department, Oakfield Lions Club and the Committee Men Genesee County Extension Services.  He served as a councilman from 1960-1979 and was a farmer for Hi-Vu Acres in Oakfield.

Surviving are his daughters, Deborah (William) Fries of Oakfield and Sandra (Robert) Wells of Corfu; his longtime companion, Ellen Southall of Batavia; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his son, Daniel Forsyth, brothers, Rodney Forsyth and James Forsyth and sisters, Virginia Shera, Celia Maykuth, Joan White and Elinor Rice.

Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, August 28 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia, where services will be held at 2:00 p.m. also on Saturday.  George will be laid to rest in Grandview Cemetery in Batavia.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oakfield United Methodist Church, 2 South Main Street, Oakfield, NY 14125 or the City Church, 210 East Main Street, Batavia, NY 14020.
