Regina M. Haxton

Regina M. Haxton, 89, of Batavia passed away on Saturday October 9, 2021 at Brothers of Mercy Nursing & Rehabilitation Center under hospice care. She was born in Pennsylvania to the late Joseph and Alice. Regina is predeceased by brothers; Leo (Delores) and Robert. In 1955, she married William R. Haxton who predeceased her in 1997.

Regina was a graduate of Westbrook Business Academy in Olean. Her first job was at Cornell University and after marriage, she took time off to devote to her children. Regina retired from Shepard, Maxwell & Hale Insurance Agency in Batavia. Upon her retirement she had a strong desire to stay busy and make a difference. She spent many years volunteering for various activities at her church and Genesee County RSVP. As an avid reader, it meant a great deal to her to introduce youngsters to her love of reading by tutoring first graders.

She enjoyed traveling with Stone’s Traveling Seniors and Office for the Aging day trips. Regina also had a very memorable trip to Ireland.

She is survived by her daughters; Sheila (late Tod), Lois (Bryan), Cheryl (Thomas), Paula (Frederick); son William (Lynne); 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; brother–in-law John (Oleava) Haxton, along with many nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours. A 10:30AM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday October 14, 2021 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish 8656 Church St. E. Pembroke, NY 14056. She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Batavia.
