Joseph R. Koszuta, 64 of Akron, passed away peacefully on Monday (December 20, 2021) at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.

He was born in Cheektowaga, NY, a son of the late Leonard and Helen Hejna Koszuta.

Joseph Koszuta lived a fulfilled life. He and Sharon are married for 43 years and grew their family with Annette and Brian. He enjoyed taking the family on road trips and camping. He truly loved his wife. He was a pillar for his children. He was an active ‘DziaJoe’ to his four grandchildren. He would stage treasure hunts, play on the floor with Lego, snack on junk food, teach paracord bracelets and so much more. Joe was an active leader in Akron Boy Scout Troop 559, which led him to hike parts of the Appalachian Trail. He was truly an outdoors enthusiast. A respected auto technician of 45 years, he never stopped learning and transitioned to advisor at Dave Smith Ford. Joseph was an all-around kind person. He would do his best to help out family and friends. He was resourceful and always found the good in everyone and every situation.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Ritter Koszuta of Akron. Daughter, Annette (Jason) Sweet of Lancaster. Son, Brian (Lori) Koszuta of Lancaster. Mother in-law, Carol Ritter. Siblings, Marilyn (Tony) Procaccini of Cheektowaga, Donald (Kathleen) Koszuta of Florida and Thomas (Lynn) Koszuta of Cheektowaga. Also survived by 4 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brothers in-law, sisters in-law and cousins.

He was predeceased by his sister, Judy Frys. Mother in-law and father in-law, Helen Ritter and John Ritter Sr.

Family and friends are cordially invited to share thoughts, condolences and fond memories on Tuesday (Dec 28th) from 4-7pm at the J. LEONARD McANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 32 John St., Akron, NY.
