   Robert J. Berardini, 87, of Batavia passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Thursday January 27, 2022 at the New York State Veterans Home in Batavia. He was born on March 18, 1934 in Batavia to the late Donato and Assunta (Bellucci) Berardini. In addition to his parents, Robert is predeceased by his father and mother in law; Samuel (Rose) Chimeno; brother Donald Berardini; brothers-in-law Henry Chimeno and Jerry Martino; sister-in-law Angeline Berardini

Robert was a graduate of Batavia Trade School and Batavia High School. He was a lifelong resident of Batavia / Genesee County. Robert was a United States Army Veteran and retired from the City of Batavia Water & Sewer Department after 29 years of service. He was a life-time member of St. Anthony’s R.C. Church and currently Ascension Parish and the Holy Name Society. He was active in all the fund raisers for his church, the Mammoth Sale and Genesee Cancer Assistance. Robert was a lifetime member of the VFW and the Batavia Rod & Gun Club. He was a 10 year partner with Town & Country Auctioneers. His hobbies were hunting, fishing and collecting many items. Treasure hunting at auctions and garage sales was his favorite pastime along with working in the yard; more recently he enjoyed spending time at Batavia Downs Gaming.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years; Suzanne (Chimeno) Berardini; daughters Theresa (Gary) Russell of FL., Rachel (James Ernst) Berardini of Batavia; brother Richard (Josie) Berardini of Webster; sisters Betty Berardini of  AZ, Diana Martino of Batavia; along with many nieces and nephews.

Robert will be sadly missed by his family and many caring friends for his caring, loving manners and his sense of humor.

Friends are invited to call on Monday January 31, 2022 from 3:00-7:00PM at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Co. Inc. 329-333 West Main Street Batavia, New York 14020. A 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday February 1, 2022 at Ascension Parish 19 Sumner St. in Batavia. Robert will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum.
