Mr. Battaglia was born May 17, 1939 in Batavia,a son of the late Joseph P. Battaglia, II and Lucille (Hale) Battaglia.
He was a former parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Batavia. He enjoyed the horses, football, gardening - especially tomatoes, and raising chickens.
Surviving are his daughters, Tina Marie (Clarence) Winspear of Cameron, North Carolina, LuAnne Battaglia of Lockport, and Jolene Battaglia of Chili; his companion, Hazel Preedom of Batavia; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Joe is preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph G. Battaglia, IV; a brother, Michael Battaglia; and a sister, Rose Marie Monte.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street in Batavia. Burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Batavia will be private.
