Virginia Ann Schaefer

Virginia Ann Schaefer, 98, of Oviedo, Florida and formerly of Batavia, NY, passed away on February 4, 2022 at Life Care Center of Orlando in Orlando, Florida.
 

Virginia was born April 22, 1923 in Rochester, the daughter of the late George and Eleanor (Beidenbach) Klee.
 

A member of Resurrection Parish, in Batavia, NY, Virginia was involved in various bible study groups and was dedicated to Our Lady, Mary. She enjoyed her weekly bridge club, was also an avid golfer and member of Stafford Country Club. She worked as a secretary for the Selective Service System in Batavia, NY, and then as a secretary for her late husband’s law office, George E. Schaefer Law Office. While in Batavia, she enjoyed attending all her grandchildren’s athletic
games and other school performances, with her husband, George.
 

After moving to Florida in 2009, Virginia became an active member of the bible study group at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in Oviedo, FL. She liked going for walks in the warm weather, floating in the pool, attending activities at the Senior Center, such as water aerobics, line dancing, and playing bridge, and watching every golf tournament on TV. She loved going to Disney World, the beach, the local high school football games, the UCF football games, and
especially enjoyed the halftime bands, as well as any and all musical performances from her era. She loved cheering for her granddaughter’s high school basketball and lacrosse teams, with the other grandmothers, and never missed a game.
 

Surviving are her children, Joan (Fred) Francis of Oviedo, FL and George (Paula Miller) Schaefer III of Norfolk, VA; grandchildren, Freddie Francis of Locust, NC, Karen (Chris) Jones of Newnan, GA, Eddie Francis of Oviedo, FL, Kristen Francis of Denver, CO, Kathren (fiancé Trey Koons) Francis of Winter Park, CO, George Schaefer IV of Greenville, SC, and Molly (Bryan) Hickey of Durham, NC; great-grandchildren, Ethan Jones, Jacob Jones, & Blakely Eleanor Jones of Newnan, GA; and many nieces and nephews.
 

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Schaefer, Jr. and brother, Dick Klee.
 

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, February 25 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia, NY. Virginia 's Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, February 26 at Resurrection Parish, 303 East Main Street, Batavia. Virginia will be laid to rest in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Batavia.
 

ALL FRIENDS AND FAMILY are invited to join us for a Luncheon at Batavia Country Club, 7909 Byron Rd., Batavia, NY, immediately following the funeral Mass. Everyone is also invited to join us for a short memorial service at St. Joseph’s Cemetery Mausoleum after the funeral, or to go directly to the Batavia Country Club Luncheon.
 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Notre Dame High School, 73 Union Street, Batavia, NY 14020.
