Donald N. VanBuren

Batavia - Donald N. VanBuren, 90 of Batavia, passed away on Tuesday (July 12, 2022) at home. 

Mr. VanBuren was born March 15, 1932 in Batavia, a son of the late Nelson and Mildred (Townsend) VanBuren. He would go on to serve his country in the Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Veness-Strollo VFW in Batavia and enjoyed going to garage sales and flea markets. A bit of a gambler, Donald liked to bet the ponies and play scratch-offs. He was a talented piano player and greatly liked tinkering with lawn mowers. 

Donald is predeceased by his wife, Norma Jean VanBuren; daughters, Martha and Ruby; son, Donald.

Surviving are his children, Eric Chambers of Medina, Bobby (Becky) of Batavia, Mary Rice of Maryland, Millie Villa of Batavia, son, Dennis Ralph Hewston of Florida; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; son-in-law, Tom Dougal of West Virginia; special friends of the family, Gail Garitz, and Brian Fisher of Batavia. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street in Batavia, where Donald's funeral service will immediately follow visitation at 6 p.m. Interment, with military honors will be held in Western New York National Cemetery in Pembroke on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. (please assemble by 10:45 a.m.).
