Edward M. Romesser

On Friday, July 29, 2022 Edward M. Romesser passed away after a long struggle with ALS (Lou Gehrig ’s disease) at the age of 70 ½. He is predeceased by his parents Francis Romesser and Irene Myers, brothers John and Richard, and sister Bernadine (Tracy) Matteson.

He was born to Francis and Irene Romesser in Warsaw, NY, grew up in North Java, NY.  He attended St. Nicholas School and Attica Central School.  He worked as a Correctional Officer at Attica Correctional Facility for 32 ½ years.  He was very proud of his distinguished athletic career at Attica School. He continued his love of sports with baseball, golf, bowling, hiking, biking, hunting, and was an avid runner for many years.

He also enjoyed camping with friends and family.  Ed especially enjoyed watching his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, musical programs, and dance recitals.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Janet (Fox) Romesser, his children Christopher (Tracy) Romesser, Corey (Jennifer) Romesser and Allison (Jay) Platten, his eight grandchildren Andrew, Aiden, and Naomi Romesser, Joshua, Rachael, and Lucas Romesser and Connor and Brinley Platten, his sisters Anna May (late Walt) Allenbrandt, Lorraine (Bob) Stubley, his brothers Jerry (Pat) Romesser, Tony (Sylvia), Carl (Anne) along many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Ed’s last years were filled with support and comfort from his family and friends.  Special support came from his card friends led by T.E., who helped make his Wednesdays much more therapeutic and enjoyable. His final days were spent at the Gateway Home in Attica where he received the greatest care by all those who work and volunteer there.

Friends are invited to call on Monday, August 8, 2022 from 3pm to 7pm at Marley Funeral Home, LLC, 135 Main Street, Attica, NY 14011. A 10:00am mass will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at Sts. Joachim & Anne Parish, 50 East Avenue, Attica, NY 14011. He will be laid to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery, Attica.
