Lenore L. Wolford

Lenore L. Wolford, 84, of LeRoy, passed away on July 22, 2022 at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Lenore was born June 9, 1938 in Buffalo, the daughter of the late Victor H. and Edith L. (Clark) Leipold.  She grew up on a farm outside of Leroy and attended Caledonia-Mumford High School where she played in the marching band.  She graduated from Grove City College in 1961.  She later earned a master’s in psychology. She began her teaching career in Massachusetts and taught for many years in Maryland.  Before her retirement, she taught at LeRoy High School, where she also coached the College Bowl team.

Lenore married Thomas C. Wolford on June 11, 1961. They traveled extensively throughout the United States and to Alaska. They lived in the suburbs of Washington, DC for several decades before she moved  back to LeRoy to care for her mother after her father’s death. She was a member of the Bergen United Methodist Church for a number of years and was active teaching adult Bible classes.  She enjoyed gardening and caring for her dogs. She is remembered as intelligent, kind, and caring.

Surviving are her husband, Thomas; children, Rachel, Emma, and Andrew, as well as seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul.

There are no prior calling hours.  Lenore's Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at the Bergen United Methodist Church, 27 South Lake Ave., Bergen.  Private burial will be in Stone Church Cemetery in Bergen.
