  Elizabeth J. Rose, 94, of Batavia passed away peacefully on Sunday August 14, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born on January 21, 1928 in Batavia to the late Thomas and Santa (DeFelice) Marcello. In addition to his her parents, Elizabeth is predeceased by her husband; Mauro J. “Moe” Rose; siblings Alex Marcello, Frank Marcello, Anthony Marcello, Mary Nicometo and Anna Marcello.

Liz was a very loving mother, sister, wife and Nana.  She was a hard-working woman who was very involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s endeavors.  She was a very generous woman, whether it be things for her grandchildren, charities or church, she would give wholeheartedly.  Liz’s great love of family always included the Marcello Christmas Eve celebration, homemade raviolis for Christmas dinner, holiday food traditions, homemade Italian cookies, family picnics and family vacations.  Everything she did, centered around her family. 

Liz was very active.  You could find her around town with her children enjoying a Tim Horton’s French Vanilla Cappuccino.  She never missed a birthday party, christening, wedding or family gathering.  Her love for family was endless.  She loved watching sports. New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills were her favorites.  Liz was a woman of deep faith, never missed a day of reading her devotionals, bible scriptures and readings.  Her love for her Lord and Savior was amazing. 

She is survived by her children; Susan (Robert) Tretter of Batavia, Michael “Skinny” Rose of Batavia and Sandra (Scott) Merkle of Batavia; 6 grandchildren Mara (Bobby), Jonathan (Kristi), Megan (Zach), Alyssa (Vinny), Sydney and Michael; 7 great-grandchildren Parris, London, Jonthan Jr., Jayce, Jett, Shea & Enzo, along with many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday August 18, 2022 from 3:00-7:00PM at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main Street Batavia, New York 14020. A 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday the 19th at Resurrection Parish 303 E. Main St. in Batavia. Mrs. Rose will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
